The hugely popular Khairatabad Ganesh idol is all set to sport a unique look this time around. With just a week to go for the Ganapati festival, final touches are being given to the 53-feet statue, the tallest in the city.

Organisers here said that the Ganesha idol would be more “imaginative” with the idol placed over an eagle that is sitting on a globe rather than the mythological `savari’, the mouse.

“This idol is the symbol of peace in the world. Eagle is a bird that symbolizes power and through this idol we want to spread the message that nothing is more important than peace and harmony,” said S Sudarshan, chairman and founder of Shri Ganesh Utsav Samiti, Khairatabad.

Now when the Ganesh Utsav in in full swing you can see mind blowing Ganesh Idol all over. Specially the Ganesh idols at the Sarvajanik Mandal are worth watching with tremendously done beautiful decorations, which make them at point of attraction for the visitors who come there. On each street you will find Ganesh Pandals having different decorations of their own, you will notice that no decoration done in the Pandals are same as others, they have uniqueness of their own. Some of the pandals also are in the form of historic monuments which gives an elegant look.

It is not that you will only find Ganpati celebrations in Mumbai but you will find the oy of the celebrations all over the different parts of India, like Pune, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and many more. When you talk of Andhra Pradesh here is the tallest Ganesh idol having it’s situate at Khairatabad Ganesh. Each year this idol is the main drawing card of the Hyderabad’s old city. This year too the statue is raised in an extremely elegant way I am very sure that I would be hard for your eyes to belive in the artistic work of the idol done by the craftsman. This year the height of the murti is 52 feet.

The flowers and fruits that are offered to the God is countless, but there at Khairatabad Ganesh is a laddu that is being placed on the hands of the lord as an expenditure of Khairatabad Ganeshapproximately four lakhs, this laddu is made of pure ghee which can last for one month, the other ingredients that were included in the laddu are 150 kilograms of dry fruits, 400 kilograms of Chana Dal, 600 kilograms of sugar and the ghee used was 250 kilograms. The total weight of the laddu is 2,200 kilograms. Tappeswaram got this laddu in a separate vehicle through a procession and reached Hyderabad the day before Ganesh Chaturthi, and here it was handed over to the Khairtabad, Ganesh Utsav Samithi.

You will be shocked to hear that the Ganesh Pandals that are set up in Hyderabad alone are approximately 50,000 in numbers and now you can imagine the count of whole India, and the favor of festivity that we have in our country. It is also said the Khairatabad Ganesh is like the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy in terms of the treasure that is being gathered at Khairatabad.

We all know that in old city, Lord Ganesha festival is celebrated in a grand way. In each and every street you can find 2 to 3 Lord Ganesha statue during this Vinayaka Chaturthi. You can able to find hundreds and thousands of varieties in this Ganesh statue. One of the biggest and tallest ganesh statue is located at Khairatabad. Every year the Khairatabad statue is the centre of attraction in old city Hyderabad. Even in this year 2011, Ganapathi Utsav committee has raised the Ganesh statue in a superb way.

In this year 2011, Khairatabad Ganesh is going to be a memorable statue in everyone’s heart. Khairatabad Ganesha statue height is going to be 50 feet. Previously in 2010, Khairatabad Ganesh was established at the height of 40 feet. The Ganesha Murti in 2011 is flanked by Anandapadmanabha Temple in Trivandrum and Rajarajeswara Swamy.
