More than 2,000 police personnel have been deployed for Monday’s ‘Jana Garjana’ public meeting in Karimnagar. Four months after BJP’s high-profile meeting in the town, where senior leader Sushma Swaraj took part, TRS is organising the garjana, a day ahead of the ‘sakala janula samme’ which is starting on September 13 in support of separate Telangana state.

The garjana is being held at the SRR college grounds on Jagityal road. TRS district convener and former minister V Lakshmikantha Rao, former MP Vinod Kumar and others are making last-minute arrangements to make the meeting a grand success. TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao, political JAC chairman M Kodandaram, employees’ JAC chairman Swamy Goud and others would attend the meeting.

The T statehood is being loop-lined. Indications to this effect are being sent by the high command as it began hearing the arguments of both the sides. Hitherto the Seemandhra leaders were keen on a united Andhra but the senior congress MP Undavalli Arunkumar wantsHyderabad as the joint capital.

Undavalli was recently made one of the AICC general secretaries for his contribution against Eenadu chief and what he proposed could be without the backing of the AICC, the T leaders opine. Contrasted to what the CM NKR and Botcha Satyanarauyana said that the t is likely in three months, the Undavalli’s new proposal dampened the spirits in the T camp.

The high command is trying to take advantage of their MPs and MLAshelplessness and backtrack attitude as their deadline for T is fast approaching and there was no unanimity among them who had earlier exhibited their enthusiasm for T statehood. There was no second line approach for resignations from MPs and MLAs for T to the advantage of the high command.

The high command came to a decision that the MPs’ threat for quitting was not serious and the TDP also presented same picture with their members vying with those in congress over resignations. The TDP is as well not serious about the t stir and this show of disinterestedness from TDP also gladdened the high command, which wants to jump over the t issue sooner or later.

The TRS chief KCR also restricted his movement or struggle to mere publicity of statements and the t problem has been watered down. The reason behind this is that even the TJAC leader Kodandaram also restricted his actions to mere issue of statements to the press and did not take the stir seriously except the TJAC of employees who threatened to go on stir from Sept 13.

The congress managers were of the opinion that the t issue cannot be taken unless and until their chief Sonia Gandhi’s health is back to normal. Till then the t issue is certain to be on the back burner. Congress analysts say that the initiative should come from congress MLAs for any constructive decision. Mere consultations will lead to only procrastination of the t issue.

The last straw seems to be held by the TJAC employees’ leaders who were firm on going on strike from Sept 13. But again the CM NKR is equally firm on invoking ESMA in all the departments and strictly follow the no work no pay rule, which was also supported by the state high court. The court also directed the state government to invoke the national security act since the frequent bands and strikes inconvenienced the common man on the street.
