Changing its agitational course, the Telangana JAC on Monday called upon the people of the region to observe November 1, which is Andhra Pradesh Formation Day, as “Telangana Betrayal Day” and decided to organise deekshas from the first day of November.
The JAC convenor Prof M Kodandaram, while addressing the press after the JAC Steering Committee meeting, said that the JAC partners would hoist black flags in all districts protesting the AP Formation Day celebrations.
As part of continuing the T-struggle, JAC would organise 72-hour deeksha involving MLAs, MPs and other people’s representatives of Telangana and other supporting parties. To make deekshas a success, a detailed action plan would be announced in two or three days. The deekshas are being organised to mount pressure on the Centre regarding Telangana issue.
Stating that the JAC would organise a march to Hyderabad when the Parliament would meet for winter session, Mr Kodandaram said the State Congress in-charge and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad’s statement on Telangana had disappointed the Telangana people.
He condemned the Union Minister’s statement for not announcing a time frame and road map to form separate state.
He said the JAC would extend support to the Congress leaders and former ministers K Venkata Reddy and J Krishna Rao, who quit their posts, to organise deeksha in their own districts on November 1.
Demanding the State government to withdraw cases registered against the government employees and Telangana activists, the JAC leader alleged that they were being harassed by police to prevent them from participating in the Sakala Janula Samme. He warned the government would face dire consequences if the employees and workers were arrested.
